EIBP were gifted a £50,000 replica of the famous Ilford Mammoth found on Ilford Lane 150 years ago via the Natural History Museum. We believe our borough should celebrate our enviable pre-history and thus have loaned the skull for free to Redbridge Museum where it is currently being displayed on their mezzanine floor (viewable via staircase). Our commemorative replica formed from the original skull will have no doubt absorbed some of the essence of the original bones and will lay to rest the extinct animal, in the place of it’s birth, life and death.
We continue to introduce projects such as artworkshops and seminars on local history which bring to life our ancient past. Feel free to donate towards this ongoing work
